Indications for an implant.

  • To replace a missing tooth.
  • To replace multiple missing teeth.
  • To support a denture

The advantages of having Dental Implant:

  • When we replace a tooth or multiple teeth with dental implants the replacements are often fixed to your jaw bone just as a natural tooth is allowing you to avoid the embarrassment of taking your teeth out and putting them back in for social situations.
  • It feels like your natural tooth.
  • A crown is placed on the implant which looks like a natural tooth.
  • You can clean and maintain it just as you do your natural teeth.
  • Gain better biting and chewing ability with dental implants verses Dentures.
  • Nearby teeth are not involved- we do not need to alter the surrounding teeth
  • Dental implants prevent shrinkage of the jaw bone from tooth loss- helping you maintain a youthful appearance.

What is involved with the procedure?

There are different steps involved with implant placement and restoring teeth. These steps depend on which tooth we are replacing, the amount of bone present, and the medical conditions of the patient. The following are generally the steps involved with placing dental implants when enough bone is present.

  1. Diagnosis and treatment planning
  2. We take radiographs and fabricate models to determine the length and position of the implant and make a treatment plan
  3. Placement of the implant
  4. Placement of implant involves surgically placing an implant in the bone.
  5. The healing process
  6. After placing an implant, we need to wait until the body accepts the dental implant and bone grows and fuses to the dental implant. Once it is completely healed which may take a few months, you are ready to have a replacement tooth.
  7. Replacing a missing tooth.
  8. The dental Implant serves as an artificial tooth root. We take an impression of the position of the dental implant and send it to a dental laboratory which fabricates a tooth crown (prosthetic tooth), which is attached to the dental implant. You will get a temporary crown while the lab fabricates the permanent crown. Once we check the fit of the crown, we attach it to the implant.

Dental Implant Cost

Dental Implants are made of high-quality titanium material. Dental Implants are a very good long-term investment to restore your smile without the hassle of maintenance. Many factors affect the cost of implants:

The number of teeth to be replaced

Some people need one tooth replaced, others may need multiple teeth replacement. The cost is more to replace more teeth with multiple implants.

Method of replacement

An implant can be used along with fixed bridges, crowns, or dentures. It depends on how many teeth need to be replaced and what method of replacement you prefer.

Additional preparatory procedures

Some patients require additional procedures to prepare the implant site for successful implant placement. These additional procedures may include grafting of extraction site with bone, sinus lifting with bone, etc.
